I came across an excellent post warning about the practice of “vishing”. It is a serious scam. As bloggers we can get almost too comfortable online. We may think we have a lot of awareness and never ever get caught in a scam. That is not true.

Yet, if you are a non-baby boomer blogger or even know someone who is still afriad to do more than play solitary online, this is just the kind of information used as the meat for that statement, “See I told you to keep off that computer”

I just want to add that I found the article that informed me about “vishing” on a blog! Ha So here are a few definitions direct from good old Google definitions. And after the definitions you will see a link to the blog post on “vishing”. Please print it out and share with those who ONLY do emailing.

Definitions of Vishing on the Web:

Vishing is the criminal practice of using social engineering over the telephone system, most often using features facilitated by Voice over IP …
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishing

Vish – In the game of Vish (short for vicious circle), players compete to find circularity in dictionary definitions. …
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vish_(game)

is the practice of leveraging Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to trick private personal and financial information from the public …

There you are sitting at your computer at 1:19 pm in New York City. But oh my you need help resizing your picture. You decide at that moment to call your friend in Washington State to help you while your brain cells are still alive. But then you stop and wonder will you be waking her up? You know how she gets if it is too early.

You don’t have a fancy watch on your arm and you haven’t figured out all the features on your cell phone yet. So you go to Google and type in Time Washington State in the search box.

There it appears the exact time it is in Washington State which is 10:19 am. You breath a sigh of relief because by then she has had at least 2 cups of coffee and ready for any question you may have.

Ah, another Google Goodie helps you to get the job done.

I just found a really cool PowerPoint on advertising to babyboomers.

HOW DID I FIND IT?

I am so glad you asked. Here is what I did:

I went to Google search

I keyed in baby boomer:ppt (Note that I could have used pptx if I wanted to search for PowerPoint presentations in Microsoft 2007.)

Here is the formula: Phraseor word I want to see in PowerPoint slides :ppt or pptx

Why is this Google Goodie a Goodie?

Another great question. If I am plainning a presentation I can research the current Powerpoints created on a specific topic area.

So, give it a try. And you want to see and hear the PowerPoint presentation on Advertising to Baby Boomers.
