If only all this spammer ingenuity was put to better use! Those CAPTCHA blocks do help reduce spam entries. If you have an existing HTML form on a web site, there are scripts that can add CAPTCHA to it without too much effort. I teach stuff like this in my web site class (www.pcpowertips.com/webclass) because I've had to fight spammers myself.

Wow! It's amazing to learn this stuff. I had never heard of a splog until it showed up in one of my google alerts. Thanks for this very valuable information, Rosie.

And you mean to tell me there are people who create whole websites from content on other websites. What kind of monster is the world-wide web really creating?

Thanks Sally, our objective for this site is to learn, and share with others in a non-technical and overwhelming way.
In addition it keeps the old brain cells young.

Rosie,

Another timely and perfectly appropriate post! Everyone is so oversensitive about spam and spammers, but they may not know what they really are.

Thank you for researching and helping others to understand the big issues.

Hugs,

Sally

Thanks for this. Unfortunately many of those sploggers with Blogger turn off the navbar so you can't flag them and you have to know what address to go to, to report them. Few people will bother searching for that. But it is good to know more about this topic and thanks for the link to Lorrelle's post as well.

Thank you so much Mr. Armstrong for the encouraging words. I too help boomers with resume and interview skills and one of the main hurtles that we all must address is keeping a positive frame of reference during our transition period from one position to another.

I liked it so much I published it on my blog as well.

Thanks so much,

Kevin

"Out of the box" thinking and action steps are required in order to optimize the outcome for each of us over 40, over 50 or over 60. But, please know that my own father, who is age 85, still works three days each week as an Associate Pastor of perhaps the largest Protestant church in St. Louis (i.e. St. Louis Family Church in Chesterfield, MO).

So, it is not "our" age that is the enemy, but rather it is "our" attitude that will make all the difference in the world.

Consultants of all types routinely operate their businesses out of their homes and, frequently, turn out to be quite successful. Think "independent contractor" to use an IRS designation. Many women today have also discovered that businesses of all sizes are birthed around their kitchen tables.

Franchises also tend to work out as a solution in this process.

"Dream your business up" and let your imagination take you on the journey of a lifetime. The next step in this process is up to you!
