New Blogs Need Nurturing and Old Blogs Need Healing

My hubby and I have several blogs. Some are new start ups and some are older. There is a tendency to get excited and devote more time to that infant blog. You want to stroke it feed it good food and share the vision for the future.

But what I am realizing is that the older blogs can get lost and broken when time is not given to them also. The older blogs need  plugin , them and version updates. Plus, if you have not been there in a while comments good and spammy might be waiting for you. So just like children and grand children we have to find a way to make time to heal the ones that are hurting and help the new ones to shine.

If this is not done we become bad parents. I have not been the best parent lately.  I have been involved with other projects and neglecting some of my older blogs. As I review some of them I have to decide if I should put them  up for adoption or let go of the url? That seems so harsh but if I am not going to keep them tuned up is that fair?

I want all my sites to have a hope for the future to help others with their purpose. So this year I am determined to work more on my older sites as well as the newer ones. How about you?

From Baby Boomer Blog Post to Tips Booklets by Paulette Ensign

Have you ever thought about using your blog post contents for a booklet, a book, and dozens of other formats that can promote your business? That content can actually be sold as new revenue streams for a subject matter expert, starting with a manuscript of 52 how-to tips from your knowledge!

Just think of all the information you know as a Baby Boomer. You’ve gone through many chapters in your life, some directly related to your professional life and a whole lot related to what you’ve learned with your family, friends, other people who have traveled part of the journey with you who had nothing to do with your professional path. and experiences you’ve had in your own personal growth.

You know things that others do not, much in the same way others know things you do not. One of the biggest beliefs that often stop people is thinking “Well, doesn’t everyone know that? After all, it’s common sense.”
Does that sound familiar to you? Here is a simple example to make the point.

Cleaning your home and your clothing may be second nature to you, and something you can do well. Rest assured that is not the case with everyone. They simply never learned. So when you tell a mature Baby Boomer that a stain on a piece of clothing or the inside of a container can be cleaned with white vinegar, they may look at you in amazement. They never knew what you have known from an early age, no matter how knowledgeable or brilliant they are in any of a number of other topics.

So whether you do a tips booklet, use your tips as an outline to creating that book you’ve been saying you’ll write, licensing the how-to tips for all kinds of uses, or any other ways your how-to tips can help you and others, start today by writing the first ten tips. And then the next 10, and get all the way up to 52 tips a few at a time.

You’ll be ready to have them edited and learn about how to use them for marketing and making money!
And yes, we can help.

All the best in your Tips Products journey, and be sure to thank Rosie (as I am!) for helping to let you know about this.

7 Blogging Topic Areas That All Start With “P” For Beginner Bloggers or Those Starting a New Blog

This entry is part [part not set] of 3 in the series 7 "P''s for New Blog Ideas

PASSION -strong and barely controllable emotion.

What  are you passionate about? Is it politics, religion, children, a cause? The list goes on and it is sometimes therapeutic to write about it. In addition, sometimes your passion can influence someone else, hopefully positively, after they read your posts.

Please take some time to list your passions. Key the topic areas into google and put the word “blogs” after it to see what others are writing about related to the same passions.

Also, please be sure to post your comments and links to your blogs if you already have one.

3 Cutting-Edge Blog Directories With FREE Submission That Can Help Your Blog Travel in SEO Space

A good way to get your  blog out there in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Space is to use blog directories. Blog directories are websites which will categorize your blogs under many different categories. Usually the best blog directories are human edited, meaning that each submitted blog is reviewed by a person , not a robot, who will decide whether our blog belongs in their directory or not.

Now not only will blog directories help get your blog to people who are interested in the topic you write about but they will also provide strong back links and can help your posts get ranked in search engines. Also, note that many people search blog directories to research blogs that are similar to their blogs.

Did I hear someone ask “Whats a backlink?

A backlink is a link that one blog site gets from another blog site or static website.  Backlinks can make a big impact on a website’s ranking in search engine results. This is why they are considered so important  for improving a blogs SEO ranking. Search engines will use their own methods to calculate rankings using multiple factors to display search results.

One of the many methods that can help your rankings is to submit your  blog and article directories. I am only going to focus on three directories I have recently submitted this blog to. In another post I will talk about article directories and perhaps other blog directories..

I am only listing those sites that I recently submitted to in June of this year and have a easy user-friendly portal. So, check them out for yourself. As I continue with my research I may post about others later after I submit my sites.

Ontoplist

The site is easy to navigate. It does not make you feel like it is a “spammy site”I was quite surprised that the site I listed was indexed so quickly. So I am encouraged to submit more sites.

Blogflux

Blogflux lets you know on the first page that they currently feature 157,056 blogs. So you get excited about adding your blogs to the number. They stress the type of blogs they WILL NOT accept. It is an easy submission process.

Blogarama

Is also stupidly easy to navigate. It has been around for a long time so their is a high level of reliability. Their blog directory tab when clicked does not allow you the opportunity to search the categories. But I they make it easy  to contact them. So I will let them know that this boomer is concerned. I am sure it will be corrected.

I used one of my handy forms from the  Blog Management System to record the name of the directory, user name and password plus the specific blog I submitted.

If you have other favorite blog directories please share.
